• The title refers to the 1903 children's novel Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm of which there are also several film versions. The episode also in part parodies the 1940 Alfred Hitchcock film Rebecca based on the novel by Daphne du Maurier, and appears to draw plot elements from the 1932 film The old Dark House based on the novel Benighted by J. B. Priestley.
